The Board of Regents of Bethany Lutheran College and the Bethany Lutheran College Alumni Association have bestowed distinguished honors on President Marvin Meyer.

The alumni awarded the first-ever Distinguished Alumnus Award to President Meyer (JC59) at the 75th Anniversary Banquet held this past summer. Alumni Board Chair Kaye Anderson (JC ’85) presented the award along with a replication of the original oil painting that was commissioned for the college’s 75th anniversary. The award was given in recognition of President Meyer’s tireless commitment to Christian education at Bethany Lutheran College.

The Board of Regents of Bethany Lutheran College, at an October retirement dinner for President Meyer, announced that the name of the recently dedicated Hall of Science and Mathematics would be the Marvin G. Meyer Hall of Science and Mathematics.

Chairman of the Bethany Lutheran College Board of Regents, Rev. John Moldstad, made the following statement: “The Regents of Bethany Lutheran College owe a deep debt of gratitude to President Meyer for all he has done to develop this institution as the quality, Christian liberal arts college it is today. We felt it was especially fitting to have his name on a building that houses the academic department that he first served as a professor of math.”
