Bethany athletes earn post-season honors

Mankato, Minn. – Several Bethany Lutheran College athletes have been awarded post-season honors by the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). 

Sophomore volleyball standout Shelby Wiederhoeft (Truman, Minn./Truman) was named UMAC first team all-conference.
 
Men’s soccer all-conference honorees included juniors Juan Garcia (Arlington, Minn. / Sibley East), Johnny Luna (Reno, Nev. / Incline) freshmen Benjamin Moldstad (North Mankato, Minn. / Minnesota Valley Lutheran), and Joseph Perez (Colorado Springs, Colo. / Fountain Ft. Carson) earned second team all-conference. Moldstad also won UMAC rookie of the year.
 
Seven women’s soccer players received UMAC honors. Senior Paige Taylor (Coon Rapids, Minn. / Totino Grace) was voted UMAC first team all-conference. Senior Maggie LaPlante (White Bear Lake, Minn. / White Bear Lake), and juniors Jacqui Bonrud (Tea, S.D. / Lennox) and Kindra Fairburn (Big Lake, Minn. / St. Michael-Albertville) earned UMAC second team all-conference. All-conference honorable mentions were freshman defenseman Bridget Hennen (Apple Valley, Minn. / St. Croix Lutheran) and junior midfielder Hanna Spaulding (Savage, Minn. / St. Croix Lutheran). Kathryn Scislow (Lakeville, Minn. / St. Croix Lutheran) was named UMAC rookie of the year.
