David, a 2010 Bethany graduate, works for Polaris Industries as an Off-Road Vehicle Systems Engineer in Wyoming, Minnesota.
WHAT YOU DO • • • I am currently responsible for keeping the engines “cool” in our off road vehicles (ATV and side by side vehicles: Sportsman, Ranger, RZR, etc.) This includes designing a cooling system to maintain proper engine temperature and prevent the engine from exceeding its temperature limits. I spend my workdays doing design work, selecting components, supporting manufacturing/production, and developing/testing our off road vehicle cooling systems.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU • • • I have always been interested in cars, trucks, and motorsports and this job is something I have always wanted to do. I love the fact that we are always trying to push the envelope with new and improved products (very, very fast paced and the product progression is amazing). Polaris has been an awesome company to work for and I am lucky to work with them.
HOW BETHANY HAS PREPARED YOU • • • Bethany professors did an absolutely amazing job teaching and preparing students to become good engineers through problem solving and realistic applications. It was also important to spend time with those that share common values, especially from a scientific perspective.
WHAT YOU REMEMBER MOST • • • Time spent with friends and being surrounded by a faculty that truly cares about its students.
ADVICE FOR CURRENT STUDENTS • • • There will be challenges in life, but don’t get discouraged. Chase your dreams. Create opportunities. Stay focused. Don’t ever forget what is truly important in life (God, friends, family, happiness, etc.) and count your blessings.
