Lindsey, a 2012 Bethany graduate, works as a legal assistant at Taylor Corporation in North Mankato, Minnesota.
WHAT YOU DO • • • I provide a wide range of support to attorneys and paralegals in the legal department. I frequently work with different kinds of contracts that need to be filed or assigned. I also often work with many employment law matters and sometimes copyright and patent issues.
WHY YOU CHOSE LEGAL STUDIES • • • I’ve always enjoyed studying law and legal studies. Though I never had a strong interest in corporate law, I’ve found it much more interesting than I expected. I have enough general knowledge to perform efficiently, but my job is exciting because I’m constantly learning.
HOW BETHANY HAS PREPARED YOU • • • My job requires a lot of digging, and Bethany prepared me for that amount of researching, especially the communications program. What prepared me the most were the two internships I completed before graduating. The internships gave me hands-on experience and taught me how to work in a legal environment.
WHAT YOU REMEMBER MOST • • • Bethany had a really special community that I think is different from other colleges. It’s small enough that you can know everyone, but big enough to have different networks and groups. The Bethany community is really valuable.
