Bethany Lutheran College students and faculty members attended the weeklong Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) Region V Festival at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minnesota, January 17-23, 2016. Several students and faculty received nominations and awards for recent productions.
Five Bethany students competed in the Irene Ryan Scholarship Auditions. The Irene Ryan program allows the students to audition for an acting fellowship at the Kennedy Center. Respondents and directors nominate the students. Participating from Bethany were:
- Senior Emily Dworak (partner Beret Ouren) for her work in Metamorphoses
- Senior Leah Hagen (partner Patti Lilienthal) for her work in Metamorphoses
- Senior David Roemhildt (partner Amir Trotter) for his work in Leveling Up
- Freshman Tessa Snyder (partner Amir Trotter) for her work in Leveling Up
- Freshman Hans Bloedel (partner Beret Ouren) for his work in Leveling Up
Fall 2015 graduate Molly Brueske was accepted into and participated in the National Student Dramaturgy program.
Senior Kasey Gratz was accepted into and participated in the National Stage Management Fellowship program. After making final round of interviews, Gratz received a special commendation for her presentation and work during the week.
Bethany Lutheran College:
- Received The Golden Handtruck award for the best load-in and load-out of the festival.
- Was invited to perform Leveling Up. The performances went exceptionally well with great audience responses and standing ovations.
Several Bethany students and faculty received certificates of merit for their work, which are given by the visiting respondents.
