Function of Position: Responsible to the Director of Athletics for planning, developing, and communicating information about the intercollegiate athletics programs and for coordinating athletic events.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Serve as primary point of contact between the athletic department and internal/external constituencies.
2. Provide information and perform problem solving for athletic administrators and coaches.
3. Compose, produce, and distribute information using various modes of communication to a wide variety of constituencies, at times in conjunction with the Manager of Visual Media.
4. Produce, review, enter, and maintain all information on the Bethany athletic website and the Bethany athletic social media sites in a timely manner.
5. Assist with coordination of activities for all special events, compose and disseminate informational materials, develop and manage online registration.
6. Coordinate correspondence and promotional literature for camps.
7. Coordinate athlete recognition nominations and voting processes (e.g., CoSIDA’s All-Region, UMAC Player of Week, NCAA All-Region, etc.).
8. Manage game statistics for home and away contests, including gathering, converting, adjusting, and disseminating information to internal and external contacts via StatCrew.
9. Comply with NCAA statistical score reporting requirements, including producing XML files for games; entering final scores, attendance, statistical records; uploading rosters and schedules, etc., to the NCAA website.
10. Provide game management for assigned contests.
11. Oversee the selection and training of student statisticians and game-day personnel. Monitor time-clock system records for budgeting purposes.
12. Attend required UMAC and optional CoSIDA meetings.
13. Perform other related duties/responsibilities as appropriate or assigned by the director of athletics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Willingness to support the mission of Bethany Lutheran College
- Bachelor’s degree in sport management, business management, communication, English, journalism, or any closely related field, from an accredited institution
- Experience in sports information; preference given to experience with athletic statistics programs (e.g., StatCrew/SideArm)
- Able to work nights and weekends on a consistent basis
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including desktop publishing
- Have and maintain valid driver’s license
