Alexa Alfred, a senior biology major at Bethany from New Ulm, Minnesota, is a recipient of an Xcel Energy Scholarship. The Xcel Scholarship is administered through the Minnesota Private College Fund and the Minnesota Private College Council (MPCC). Bethany is a member of the MPCC, which is an association of seventeen institutions of higher education. The MPCC represents private nonprofit higher education, and its related issues, in Minnesota. The member institutions, including Bethany, share a liberal arts focus.
Alfred will graduate in May 2018, and is currently considering her options for medical school. Before she makes that transition, she will first be taking a year to live and teach abroad. Alfred, like so many Bethany students, is driven to serve and help others, which has led to activities that include both local and international service trips. You can read more about Alfred’s post-graduation plans, and her unique study abroad/service experiences in the Minnesota Private College Fund Annual Report. Her story is featured on pages four and five.
