In what has become an annual tradition in the Meyer Hall of Science and Mathematics, Assistant Professor Chad Heins and Director of IT Services, John Sehloff, took biology students (and a couple of others) out to cut down a Christmas tree for for the building. This year’s tree harvesting was pushed up a day by inclement weather which left us with barely enough people to pull the tree out of the woods. Prior to picking out a tree, the students search the grove for roosting owls and while a single Long-eared Owl was seen by Professor Heins, most the students didn’t see it before it flew away into a thicker part of the grove. The beautiful weather, the smell of a freshly cut conifer, and John Sehloff’s dog who tagged along ensured everyone had a great time.
