Bethany welcomed Max Gruenig to the campus on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.
During a morning presentation Gruenig spoke to a packed hall about his role as the President of Ecologic Institute US.
Gruenig’s visit was sponsored by Bethany Lutheran College’s Fulbright Program and was part of the nationwide initiative known as “Meet-a-German” Day.
“Meet-a-German” Day was organized by Fulbright Germany in cooperation with the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG), to celebrate the Year of the German-American Friendship (2018-19). On “Meet-a-German” Day, German speakers visit schools across the U.S. to provide young Americans with a fresh perspective on contemporary Germany.
Ecologic Institute US is an independent non-profit think-tank for applied environmental research and policy analysis. Its mission is to promote greater transatlantic understanding of environmental policies, sustainable economic and political development, and environmental protection through research, publications, educational exchanges, and public events.
Gruenig’s work is based out of the Washington, D.C., office of Ecologic Institute US which evolved out of the Transatlantic Program of Ecologic Institute, Berlin, and aims to continue to expand international networks in the field of environmental policy. Mr. Gruenig’s work focuses on sustainable development in the energy and transport sector, as well as urban sustainability and resilient cities.
