Bethany Lutheran College offers a variety of challenging academic programs through which professors mentor students to pursue knowledge, truth, and discernment for productive and fulfilling lives. Some academic programs lead students to career paths for which they need to obtain and maintain professional licensure or certification to be employed. The curricula for these programs at Bethany Lutheran College have been designed to prepare students for licensure or certification in their fields and to sit for Minnesota licensure exams. Each state has its own licensure boards responsible for setting requirements for licensure or certification. Bethany students planning for careers  in any states other than Minnesota should be aware of the specific licensure or certification requirements for those states. Additional requirements might include supplemental coursework, testing, and personal identification documentation.

Education

Being a teacher is both very challenging and incredibly rewarding. Bethany professors believe that future teachers educated from a Christ-centered perspective will be better prepared to meet the needs of children in a multi-cultural society whether in public or private schools.

Bethany Lutheran College offers Minnesota state-approved teaching licensure with optional endorsements in communication arts and literature, mathematics, pre-primary, science, and social studies. Bethany also offers Minnesota state-approved licensure for grades 5-12 in English, Mathematics, and Social Studies, and K-12 licensure for Studio Art. Bethany Lutheran College Education Programs are approved by the Minnesota Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB). Students desiring to teach in Lutheran schools take additional coursework for certification by the Evangelical Lutheran Synod.

Nursing

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Bethany Lutheran College will prepare students to use the nursing process and an inter-professional approach to provide patient centered health care across the lifespan and continuum of care for patients of diverse populations. Students will gain values, knowledge, and skills necessary to provide compassionate, safe, quality patient care and learn how to be a Christian servant-leader within professional nursing practice. At the completion of the nursing program, students will be eligible to become a registered nurse through the Minnesota state licensure examination.
