Cody Hardin (’11)

Cody Hardin (2011)Cody, a 2011 Bethany graduate, currently lives in Bristol, Connecticut working at ESPN, Inc. as an audio operator.

WHAT YOU DO • • • I am responsible for mixing the audio on many of ESPN’s popular shows, including Sportscenter, Baseball Tonight, and NFL Live. In addition to mixing live shows, I also will provide talent the microphones and earpieces they need and provide support for the intercom system that allows everyone to talk to each other.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU • • • I am inspired by people who are passionate about what they do, no matter what their chosen field is. Maybe it’s an artist sharing her gift with the world, maybe it’s a mechanical engineer developing better cars. When people are actively engaged in what they do, that inspires me to work harder in my field.

HOW YOU WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE • • • I think the biggest way that I can make a difference is to be actively involved in things bigger than myself. At Bethany, I made it a point to take advantage of as many opportunities that I could, from music and theatre to broadcasting and watching games. After Bethany, that mentality of being involved in my community is still strong. Now I volunteer teaching music to children, am involved with writing and recording music for various local groups, and am helping my church to stream services online.

HOW BETHANY HAS PREPARED YOU • • • While Bethany provides education of the highest caliber, its shining light is and will continue to be its focus on Christ’s work for us. In addition to that, the opportunities and experiences I had at Bethany allowed me to build a strong portfolio of work; the classes and professors prepared and shaped me as a man and the friendships I made are lifelong.

WHAT YOU REMEMBER MOST • • • I’ll remember my participation in all the ensembles—drumline, band, choir, jazz, the broadcasting program, good friends that I made, shenanigans my roommate and I got into, meeting my beautiful wife, and overall having four of the best years of my life.

ADVICE FOR CURRENT STUDENTS • • • Take a deep breath, clear your mind every once in a while, and take time to enjoy your college years. And if there’s a band playing in the Lab, put the book down for 10 minutes and go listen!
