Bethany Lutheran College’s enrollment for fall 2018 has broken several records. Most notably, the incoming class of students is the largest in the history of the institution. The fall 2018 class of first year and transfer students exceeded projections, and at 225 students, it surpasses the previous record set in 2008 by 10 students.

The College also saw increases in several other enrollment categories. Bethany’s international student enrollment is also at all time high with 59 students from 19 countries represented on campus.

Bethany also offers online classes for high school students. This fall 94 high school students are taking online college courses through Bethany Lutheran College. The addition of several new academic programs, expanded course offerings in continuing education, new post baccalaureate programs, combined with strong Minnesota Post Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) interest through local high schools has pushed the total number of students enrolled at Bethany to a new record of 748.

Another factor that is contributing to the enrollment gains is the fact that Bethany’s student retention rate has moved forward consistently for the past several years. All of these positive trends add up to an enrollment that is just 10 students shy of a record for full time students at the College. The College’s full time equivalency stands at 646 students, which is the highest ever.

Bethany’s President Dr. Gene Pfeifer commented, “We are thrilled that more and more students with a wide variety of experiences and academic interests are choosing to attend Bethany Lutheran College. I believe the College is meeting and exceeding the expectations of our students. The addition of several new programs, a deliberate focus on mentoring, and the value a faith-based education provides all have contributed to this growth and positive retention.”
