Band Tour – Arizona and Utah (Spring 2023)

The Bethany Lutheran College Concert Band, under the direction of Professor Benjamin Faugstad, performed a home concert on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, then departed on tour to Arizona and Utah. Their program featured a wide range of music, from energetic selections like “Reign of Fire,” “Undecim,” and “Olympiada,” to beautiful, lyrical music such as “Southern Hymn” and “Oblivion.”

The BLC Concert Band is halfway through its national tour to Arizona and Utah! On Sunday we were blessed to be able to worship and perform at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Scottsdale, Arizona. After that, we spent some time at the impressive Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix. Stay tuned for more updates from tour! View Facebook post.

On day 5 of tour, the band played at Arizona Lutheran Academy in Phoenix & Our Saviour Ev. Lutheran Church in Lake Havasu City. On our way to Our Saviour we were able to visit the London Bridge and the surrounding beach and shops! View Facebook post.

On day 6 of tour the band got to spend several hours at the Grand Canyon! View Facebook post.

On days 7 and 8 of tour, the band was blessed to be able to perform at Hope Lutheran Church in West Jordan, UT, and Prince of Peace Church and School in Taylorsville, UT. At Hope, the band was greeted by a humorous welcome sign recognizing the accomplishments of our triple-jump champion and saxophone player Jake Marzinske, who is competing at Nationals tomorrow. At Prince of Peace, the band was given the opportunity to interact with the elementary students afterwards and show them the fundamentals of all of the band instruments. View Facebook post.

On the return home from tour, the band visited Mt. Rushmore National Monument, went to Wall Drug, and did a scenic drive-through of Badlands National Park. We made it back safely to Mankato on Saturday night. Thank you to everyone who made this trip successful — the band students, the chaperones, the pastors, teachers, and principals, the host families, all attendees of the performances, our bus driver, and band director Prof. Ben Faugstad.
