CIS seeks to engage all students and empower them to think both creatively and critically. Through creation and exploration, students will have the opportunity to follow their curiosity, discover a new passion, acquire skills and gain insight into the arts that will enrich their educational experience at CIS and beyond. CIS prides itself in the knowledge of the arts fitting into the center of our students’ lives. The arts broaden our thinking and teach us to see in more sophisticated ways and allow us to fulfill that most basic of human needs, the need to create. At CIS, we pursue the arts because it allows us to express, to connect, and doing so, we find joy. The Arts bring an element of fun within the traditional curriculum. Visual arts, and general music begin with the elementary student and provides a space for individuality and creativity. Further develop is provided in the middle and high school courses. The higher level courses provide deeper expressions of the visual arts yet also an opportunity to experience the performing arts in band and chorus.
