Bethany is a private Christian college with a 100 year history in Mankato, MN of serving students from Southern Minnesota and around the world. Over 1,000 students apply to Bethany each year resulting in an incoming class of over 200 new students each year. We are happy to set up individual or group campus visits and to converse with you personally so that the enrollment process is as enjoyable as possible.

Common Questions

If you get your class work done, you can make it at Bethany. Bethany alum are accepted to top medical, law and an array of other outstanding graduate programs. Yet, some students receive tutoring throughout college and have no interest in getting ready for graduate school. Learning to communicate well with students of various intellectual gifts is a part of a well-rounded education.

Many universities have inflated grades, have lowered standards to meet enrollment goals, or have overlooked cheating. Bethany has not participated in a wave of grade inflation, encourages students to be proud of their own work, and has high academic standards.

A standardized test only helps you to be accepted and to receive financial aid. If you do not send us a test, expect to be held to a much higher standard. International students must send a test, yet the Duolingo test is often very accessible.

Yes, Bethany is usually very accepting of college credit from a variety of sources. Advanced Placement courses must come in with a 3 on the test or higher. Other college credit courses, including those taken during high school, must transfer in at a C grade or higher.

Yes, Bethany is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and acknowledged by the state and federal government. Bethany is a private, independent Christian college that provides higher education.

If students get all of their paperwork in by Thanksgiving, it saves the student and Bethany time. Thus, we respond with providing quick and concrete information about Financial Aid and access to the most amount of aid. Also, the last Saturday in March or first Saturday in April is reserved by all of the Bethany professors to meet with all new students and parents on a day filled with class scheduling and early orientation.

After you enter your Slate account, find the “Colleges” button and search for “Bethany Lutheran College” to see your student’s information.

Dates and Process

New Freshman and Transfer Students are accepted for January and August start times. Here is a timeline for the main August start time (fall semester):

  • Application Opens – August 1Apply now. Decisions start in October.
  • FAFSA Opens – October 1 – Share your Free Application for Federal Student Aid via 002337.
  • Premier Decision Deadline – November 25 – Send your FAFSA, Activity Scholarship, Application, Transcript and Test Score by this date to receive the best Financial Aid award.
  • Premier Decision Financial Aid Awarded – December 15 – The Financial Aid office will send you a great aid package within two weeks.
  • Premier Decision Deposit Deadline – December 31Send your $300 deposit to confirm your place at Bethany and receive a free sweatshirt. Thanks for being a class leader.
  • Standard Talent Scholarship Deadline – January 31 – Get a Talent Scholarship for music, art, theatre, Mock Trial, Speech, Media, Esports and Clay Target.
  • Premier Registration Day – Last Saturday in March or first Saturday in April – All professors are on campus and about half of the incoming class meets to reserve a class schedule.
  • Premier Registration Day Online – Weekday in Early April – For international students and a few domestic students who could not attend the live event.
  • International Application Deadline – April 30Apply now. Seek an exception after this date, as available.
  • International Payment Deadline – June 30 – Help confirm visas by sending in the first payment.
  • Roommate Matching Done – July 20 (approx.) – Receive information about the student you will live with and start planning your room.
  • Standard Application Deadline – July 31Apply now. Seek an exception after this date, as available.
  • First Payment Due – August 10 – Your payment plan details the amount due by this day.
  • Move In Day set with Student Life – Mid-August – Have fun with your new classmates and enjoy Best Week Ever Festivities.
