Art Exhibits

The Ylvisaker Fine Arts Center serves as the campus art gallery. Its walls are home to an ever-changing collection of artwork; the lobby is frequented by sculpture and other works of art. Each month, a new guest artist displays a portfolio. Sometime during the exhibit, the artist gives a public lecture on the meaning and relevance of the art.

Public gallery hours during the academic year begin at 1 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. (Friday & Saturday) or 9 p.m. (Sunday through Thursday). The building is not open to the public during academic breaks.

Senior studio art majors are required to hold their own gallery exhibits. This is considered a showcase of academic work and is typically done for academic credit during the senior year.

The last month of each semester is reserved for the Student Art Show, when students have on opportunity to display their work in the gallery of the Ylvisaker Fine Arts Center. Each student enrolled in an art class is required to submit at least one work for the show, but many students choose to display several. The works are judged by the Studio Art Department.
