Piano and organ students at Bethany study and perform on superior instruments. Opportunities for involvement include performing major keyboard works in recitals, accompanying student vocalists, and playing for daily chapel and weekly vespers services. Private lessons are available.
Excellent instruments are a hallmark of the music enterprise at Bethany. In addition to a number of upright and Steinway grand pianos, the college owns four pipe organs for use by students and faculty. The Dobson 20-stop organ in the chapel has been featured in numerous recitals throughout the years. It has also been used for several professional recordings and been featured on Minnesota Public Radio several times. Since 1979 it has enhanced worship services and served as a premiere recital instrument. A smaller instrument, the 4-stop Dobson portative organ, is designed to accompany choral works on campus and, occasionally, on tour. Other organs by Casavant and Moller are available in the Ylvisaker Fine Arts Center. All organs and pianos are readily available for rehearsals.
